Performance Night

Performance Night

Performance Night is a night when our school goes to Influencers and presents songs and choreography by each class. This year the 5/6 girls and boys were spilt up (it was a great idea!).

The girls did 3 songs,

1 – Singing In The Rain (By Gene Kelley)

2 – Annie, Its The Hard Knock Life (By John Huston)

3 – A Chorus Line, One (broadway show)

For Annie I wore a red, white and black skirt a peach top and a prop was a tea towel ’cause I wiped the floor! For Singing In The Rain we just wore a rain coat over our Annie costumes. For A Chorus Line I wore black leggings, the peach top and a yellow sparkly hat!

My favourite performance was the teachers one.  They did Can’t Stop The Music. There were police hats, builder hats and a tekkie hat.

Overall I really enjoyed the night and i can’t wait to do it again!  From Jessica

Growth Mindset Day

Growth Mindset Day!

On Thursday the 9th of June 2016 the 5,6 and 7s had a Growth Mindset Day. It included juggling, Art ( motivational quotes relatable to the day ), food, sign language learning and technology! It was a fun day to enjoy, and here are some things we did!

First we were divided into 4 groups, there were the Wallabies, Emus, Koalas and Kangaroos! I was in the Kangaroos with 3 other girls in my class. The first activity started at 9:00 which was with Mr Colagrossi (senior) and he taught us the alphabet in sign language within like 5-10 mins. After that he taught us a game which was called Quick Sand (I think).  It was fun and it was a team building exercise!

After that a really nice lady named Jo Blesing came in to talk about the difficulties in her life and how she solved her life’s problems. She has MS (Multiple Sclerosis) and she is an amazing person even now she is! She’s a BIG inspiration.

After Recess we had our second activity which was with Mr Colagrossi (junior) and we made a song on Garage Band. I was partners with Chloe and well let’s just say our song didn’t really work out.

Then we had a shared lunch. It was good and there was lots of food. I liked it. (LOL)

After lunch we had art with Mr March. We did our quotes on a canvas, and I was really happy with it. Here’s my quote, “Stop saying I wish.  Start saying I will”.

Then we had juggling with Mr Pastro, It was a fun learning experience. So far I can juggle 2 balls but I’m still practicing. Go check out the juggling video at Mr Pastros Blog.

The day was fun and a really good learning experience!

Art in class

image

Emotions Art!

Last term our class did art on emotions. Emotions like happy, sad, worried, angry, scared and many more ( I think ). As you can see I did mine on ANGRY. We learnt about Negative, and Positive space. Negative space means that there is too much space on the page instead of the art work you are foucusing on, and Positive  space is when you have filled almost all the space on the page and you have focused on the image/art work.

We could also choose to have it crazy and out of this world! And I’m pretty happy with how mine came out!

Responsibility

Responsibility

Our focus this term is RESPONSIBILITY and I just felt like I should do posts about our focuses. Here are some things you can do to be responsible.

– When you see rubbish around a school, Park or at home you should clean it up, not only to be responsible but to also keep our planet clean

– At school if your given work its really your responsibility to finish it

– Its your responsibility to do your chores and get them done so your home is neat, tidy and clean

– If you have a pet and you want it to be happy and all that, then its your responsibility to feed them, wash them and walk them. ( If you have a cat its probably best you don’t walk them)

Belonging

Belonging

OK, so here’s a thing that most parents care about is when their child goes to school and feels like they don’t belong. Now I know what is feels like when someone mistreats you or makes you feel bad about something so small it is basically not even worth it. But here are some things that helped me get through those hard times so if you feel worried and get frightened, then this could help you.

First of all take your Parents Advice. don’t ever not let your parents help you because maybe they have gone through what you have or maybe they just wanna make a difference for you, so you must take your parents advice and use it.

Another thing is to Not Ask What They Say About You because if they say something really bad and your friends hear and you ask what they said, your not going to forget that moment for a long, long time. So please, don’t ever do that.

Another one is to Not To Take It Personally like just don’t take it personally, make a joke out of it because at the end of the day it will not matter to you at all.

Another thing that could help you is to Not Talk About Them To Others because you never know they could pass on rumors to other students and then it will just keep going until the person you were talking about will hear it and then you will get the blame, and just saying it does not feel good being the mean one. Oh and just saying you can talk about them to your parents.

Oh, here’s one, If It Gets Out Of Hand, Bring It Up To The Teacher because the teacher should definitely do something about it and if they don’t then tell your parents about the teacher and then I don’t know, maybe get the principal involved, I guess but that didn’t happen to me so…..

One more thing is to Not Feel Sad About It In Front Of Them Because then your showing them that your an easy target and that it effects you and it’ll just keep happening.

Thank you so much if you read all of this cause this took me a long time, and remember you might be one of the targets but this should help you. Oh and also our focus is Belonging so that’s why I did this. Thank you!

What Is A Class? By Jessica 56MA

What Is A Class?

It’s helping, yelping, playing and saying

It’s caring and sharing, working and lurking

It’s yearning and concerning, crafting and laughing

It’s thinking and cleaning, reading and needing

It’s writing and drawing, colouring and perfecting

It’s collecting, protecting, ripping and cutting

It’s like fighting and forgiving, belonging and knowing

It’s measuring and counting, glittering and gaming.

These Are The Expectations For A Great Class!
